Lane Kiffin Got A Huge Payday For Ole Miss Beating Tulane Today

Lane Kiffin might’ve given up his chance to be a part of Ole Miss’ Playoff run by taking the LSU job, but he’s still reaping some of the benefits of the Rebels’ big win on Saturday.
Ole Miss blew out 11th-seeded Tulane for the second time this season, 41-10, thanks to a dominant performance on the ground (151 yards, four touchdowns) and three-score performance from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss.
Saturday was the first time the Rebs have been able to take the field since Kiffin’s departure. However it sounds like the former Oxford coach was able to have his cake and eat it too, per his recent contract agreement with the Tigers.
LSU to pay Kiffin Ole Miss CFP bonus
According to ESPN‘s Adam Rittenberg: “Lane Kiffin’s contract with LSU includes the unique clause that he will receive a payment equal to the amount he would have earned for coaching Ole Miss in the upcoming College Football Playoff.”
Adding, “Kiffin, who agreed to a seven-year contract with [LSU] that will pay him $13 million annually, will receive the same CFP bonus from LSU that he would have if he had remained with Ole Miss through this postseason. That begins at $150,000 for the Rebels’ participation in a first-round CFP game, increases to $250,000 for participation in a quarterfinal and tops out at $1 million if Ole Miss wins the national championship.”
Kiffin reportedly had hoped to continue coaching the Rebs despite jumping to their SEC rival less than a month ago. But the school decided it would be better off making a clean break and promoting defensive coordinator Pete Golding to be the program’s next HC.
Despite not coaching the Rebels in the CFP, Lane Kiffin still benefits from their win against Tulane according to a term sheet obtained by ESPN.

Rebels roll to 41-10 CFP victory
If Ole Miss was missing its former head coach, fans sure couldn’t tell. The Rebs had already gotten out to a two-touchdown lead before the Green Wave could even look up and remained comfortably ahead for the entirety of the 60 minutes of game time.
Chambliss, Kewan Lacy, De’Zhaun Stribling and Deuce Alexander led the way offensively for Mississippi. While Jaylon Braxton came up with a big pick of Jake Retzlaff earlier in the game.
Saturday‘s win will go down as one of the biggest for a new head coach at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Now it’s just a matter of how much further they’re able to go (and how much Kiffin is able to line his pockets).
