The Texas Longhorns finished the 2025 regular season 9-3, with losses to the Ohio State Buckeyes, Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs. After missing out on the College Football Playoff, they take on the Michigan Wolverines in the Citrus Bowl.
It’s a disappointment after entering the year with a No. 1 ranking and national championship aspirations. Despite that, head coach Steve Sarkisian continues to build for the future. A big piece of that is high school recruiting.
Players in the 2028 class won’t hit college campuses for another few years, but the Longhorns are still making early impressions. That includes with 5-foot-11 and 167-pound wide receiver Deandre Bidden out of Harper Woods, Michigan.
While speaking to Rivals’ Greg Biggins, Bidden made it clear that Texas is one school already high on his list.
“Texas offered on Saturday and I’m very excited about that one,” Bidden said. “That’s honestly a dream school for me and a school I’ve always liked.”
“I just like their style of play on offense,” he continued. “They always have speed at the receiver position and I think I would fit in really well there.”
However, the Longhorns aren’t alone in this battle. The wide receiver also stated a desire to visit programs such as the Oregon Ducks, Texas A&M Aggies, Miami Hurricanes and USC Trojans. Bidden has already taken six visits with Michigan and three with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The interest doesn’t come as a surprise. Rivals places him as a four-star recruit, the No. 2 wide receiver and the No. 11 player in the nation. Going into the season for Harper Woods High School, he earned second-team honors as a Preseason MaxPreps Sophomore All-American.
While the 2025 season won’t end in a national championship, the Longhorns are already positioning themselves for future success. Making an early impression on Bidden, who considers Texas a “dream school,” is a step in the right direction.
No. 13 Texas squares off against No. 18 Michigan (9-3) at 3 p.m. ET Dec. 31 in the Citrus Bowl on ABC and the ESPN app.
