James Madison lost their head coach Bob Chesney to UCLA this coaching cycle, following a berth in the College Football Playoff. The Dukes have now turned to Billy Napier to lead their football program in 2026 and beyond. Napier is filling out his staff in Harrisonburg and has zeroed in on a couple of former Michigan State assistants to add to his offensive staff.
William Peagler will serve as the school's running backs coach and Aaron Pflugrad will be the team's quarterbacks coach.
Peagler was a part of the MSU staff in 2020 and 2021, where he is most known for his recruitment and coaching of Kenneth Walker. Since leaving East Lansing, he has spent time with Florida and the Arizona Cardinals.
Pflugrad has spent the past two seasons in East Lansing, working as an offensive analyst and most recently as the offensive passing game coordinator. Prior to arriving in East Lansing, Pflugrad spent the previous nine seasons at Northern Arizona.
JMU is hiring Aaron Pflugrad as QB coach, Jireh Wilson as edges coach and Brandon Bailey as safeties coach, sources tell @CBSSports.
Pflugrad was most recently pass game coordinator at Michigan St. Wilson was edges coach at Virginia Tech. Bailey was DC at Georgia Southern. https://t.co/EeQIzA0VJopic.twitter.com/ZAde9WInxc
