Penn State football will be without a second key cornerback for the Pinstripe Bowl against Clemson.
Junior A.J. Harris, a two-year starter and former five-star recruit, is not listed on the Penn State roster as of Dec. 22 and is expected to enter transfer portal for the second time, according to multiple reports, including Blue-White Illustrated. He left Georgia to join the Nittany Lions in 2024.
The transfer portal officially opens Jan. 2 and runs for two weeks. The Lions are in the process of finishing out their 2025 season and building a new coaching staff and roster under head coach Matt Campbell.
Harris had been viewed as a potential high NFL Draft pick this coming spring after he impressed last season, earning third-team All-Big Ten honors.
He struggled at times, though, in 2025 and was benched against Northwestern and missed the Michigan State game to injury. He earned All-Big Ten honorable mention after making 33 tackles with just one pass breakup and a fumble recovery.
Harris would be the second PSU cornerback to enter the transfer portal, joining backup Elliot Washington. The Lions will now rely on Audavion Collins, rookie Daryus Dixon and Kenneth Woseley against Clemson and quarterback Cade Klubnick.
Harris earned more than 30 reported scholarship coming out of Central High in Phenix City, Alabama. He played in seven games as a true freshman at Georgia, making eight tackles, mostly in early-season action.
