Jeremiah Smith Issues Warning To Miami Before College Football Playoff

Jeremiah Smith is from Miami Gardens, Florida.

The sophomore Ohio State Buckeyes star wide receiver grew up around Miami Hurricanes fans. All of them hoped that he would play his college football for The U, like many of great wide receivers before him, including Michael Irvin, Andre Johnson and Santana Moss. But the five-star recruit committed to Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.

It's worked out pretty well.

Smith has become the best wide receiver in college football over the past two years. He's helped lead the Buckeyes to the national title last season and the No. 2 overall seed in the College Football Playoff this year.

Ahead of the College Football Playoff quarterfinals game between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 10 Miami, Smith has issued a warning to Hurricanes fans.

A lot of Miami Hurricanes fans are still salty about the 2003 national championship game. Ohio State topped Miami, thanks in part to a controversial pass interference penalty. Miami fans have not forgotten about it.

Smith, though, is warning Miami fans that the College Football Playoff quarterfinals game won't go much better.

“They’re still worried about it 20 years later… we got something coming for them New Year’s Eve," he said on Monday.

ESPN's prediction for the game

ESPN's computer model, the Football Power Index, released its prediction for the game on Monday morning.

It likes the Buckeyes.

ESPN's computer model is picking No. 2 Ohio State to take down No. 10 Miami. It gives the Buckeyes a 70.5 percent chance to win the game. It gives Miami a 29.5 percent chance to win the game.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. E.T. on Dec. 31.
