The Georgia Bulldogs won’t have an official injury report until three days before their College Football Playoff quarterfinals game against the Ole Miss Rebels. In the meantime, Georgia coach Kirby Smart provided an injury update on a pair of key injured Georgia starters.
“Yeah, I’m optimistic we get all those guys back,” Smart said on center Drew Bobo and wide receiver Colbie Young. “We’re hopeful to get those guys back and get them back recovered, get them going. They’re good football players, and they’re going to help us. We’re hopeful to get a lot of those guys back, and we’ve got guys dinged up from the practices we’ve had, too.”
Bobo is dealing with a foot injury while Young suffered a serious leg injury in the first meeting against Ole Miss. Bobo, second-team All-SEC pick, was reported to be out for the season ahead of the SEC championship.
In Georgia’s first meeting against Ole Miss, both Bobo and Young played a significant role for the Georgia offense, which piled on 510 total yards, 43 points and 221 rushing yards in a dominant performance. Georgia’s offense will need to put up points to keep pace with Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl.
Despite Young missing several the past two months, he remains Georgia’s second leading receiver with 23 receptions, 336 yards and one touchdown.
