With playoff hope still in the balance, the Missouri Tigers are looking to bounce back and knock off the No. 3 team in the country this Saturday in Columbia, Missouri.
That will be easier said than done, however. The Texas A&M Aggies have an unblemished record entering the Week 11 contest against the Tigers, after securing a dominant victory over LSU before the program’s bye week. Both teams have a much-needed week of rest under their belts and are gearing up for a conference battle with many ramifications.
Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz knows what this weekend’s game means and will have his fifth-ranked defense raring to halt the Aggies’ momentum in its tracks.
While quarterback Beau Pribula is currently out for an uncertain time period due to an injury suffered in the loss against Vanderbilt, freshman Matt Zollers showed he was ready to step into that spot and compete for the Tigers, as he threw for 138 yards and one touchdown in limited action against the Commodores. Missouri has the talent to compete with any team in the country, but Drinkwitz must find ways to put Zollers in comfortable positions against a highly talented Aggie front.
Here is everything Drinkwitz said during the SEC head coaches teleconference on Wednesday about the Texas A&M football program ahead of the matchup in CoMo:
Drinkwitz speaks on Texas A&M’s success and his respect for Elko
“Excited about the opportunity that we have to host a top-three team in the country at home,” Drinkwitz said. “Ton of respect for Coach Elko and his team. It’s a really, really good football team in all three phases, led by somebody I believe should be the frontrunner for the Heisman in Marcel Reed.”
Drinwitz gives thoughts on the Aggies and the program’s win over Missouri at Kyle Field last year
“That team last year whipped our butt. They came out hungry and took it to us,” Drinkwitz said. “Are they better? Yeah.”

Drinkwitz talks about Aggie QB Marcel Reed
“You know that he does as good a job as anybody in self-scout. He knows what he put on tape, and he knows how to correct it,” Drinkwitz said. “He knows what he’s doing… As a team, you have to be really sound in what you do. You can’t think, ‘We got him.’ You just have to be sound.”
