Willamette High School (Ore.) defensive lineman Tony Cumberland has been named the defensive captain of the ALL‑USA West Football Team, a fitting honor for one of the most disruptive and complete defenders in the region.
Cumberland, a 6-foot‑4½, 285‑pound senior, anchored a Willamette defense that powered the Wolverines to a strong 2025 campaign, including key wins over West Salem, Sheldon, Sprague and Grants Pass. His production matched his reputation. This season, Cumberland posted 102 tackles, with 26 tackles for loss and 14 sacks.
His career arc shows even more dominance. After emerging as a freshman with 38 tackles and six sacks, he battled through a concussion‑shortened sophomore season but still delivered 30 tackles and 3.5 sacks in eight games. As a junior, he elevated again, finishing with 78 tackles, seven tackles for loss and six sacks and three forced fumbles, earning 5A All‑State honorable mention and helping Willamette reach the state playoffs at 8-2.
Recruiting attention followed early and never slowed. Rated the No. 1 player in Oregon by 247Sports, Cumberland signed with Oregon earlier this month. Evaluators praise his burst, power, balance and ability to disrupt from multiple alignments, projecting him as an immediate-impact interior force at the next level.
Along with the other players selected to the ALL-USA West Football Team, Cumberland is a finalist for the national ALL-USA Football Team, which will be announced on Dec. 30.
The West region includes athletes from Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
