During his high school career, SaRod Baker has been a human highlight reel. As he has frustrated offensive coordinators, his stock has been on the rise, catching the attention of programs like the Longhorns. Over the past two weeks, he has taken his game to another level while leading DeSoto High to a state title.

As DeSoto added to its trophy case, Baker set the tone offensively. The Texas native rushed for 1,600+ yards and scored 24 touchdowns. Regardless of the opponent, he made a difference with his legs and showed why some programs nationwide are battling for his services.

Currently, the Longhorns‘ recruiting target is ranked 72nd among running backs in the 2027 class by 247Sports. They also rank him as the 103rd-best player from Texas. He has received offers from Auburn, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Oregon, and TCU.

While Baker has yet to set a commitment date, his play has not gone unnoticed. Over the last few weeks, he has shined one of the biggest stages and left defensive coordinators throughout Texas scratching their heads. That is something he hopes to replicate at the college level.

With the 2025 campaign in the books, Baker can now focus on continuing to improve his game as the offers continue to roll in. The Longhorns have only three commitments in the 2027 class, but would benefit from having Baker in the mix. He would give Steve Sarkisian and his staff another weapon to rely on.

Over the next few weeks, Baker will be taking in everything that comes with winning a state title as his future appears brighter than ever.
