One of the top running back prospects for the 2027 recruiting class has narrowed one of his choices down to Auburn. 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges has narrowed down his list to eight schools that features the Tigers per Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.
The list of schools for Georges is a collection of some of the biggest names in college football. The other seven he is deciding from is Alabama, Georgia, Miami (FL), Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas. According to Rivals, he is rated as the No. 2 running back in the country and No. 1 overall player in Tennessee. He plays for Baylor High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee who had a 12-0 season in 2025. He rushed for a total of 1,605 yards and 25 touchdowns. Georges was also selected to the MaxPreps Junior Preseason All-American Team prior to the 2025 season.
According to 247Sports, Ohio State and Tennessee are leading the way to gain his commitment. However, there is plenty of time for Alex Golesh and his staff to impress Georges. Currently Auburn has only lost one running back to the transfer portal and that is Damari Alston. His exit from the team occurred in midseason so his entrance into the portal was expected. Jeremiah Cobb had a breakout season for the Tigers and Omar Mabson showed potential as a freshman. There is also some potential with Alvin Henderson who was a highly touted recruit before in signed with Auburn this past recruiting cycle. Golesh mentioned when he was introduced as head coach that they will run the football, and that has to be encouraging for any potential running back at Auburn.
Auburn currently does not have any commitments for the 2027 recruiting class. That is not surprising with a change of head coach from Hugh Freeze to Golesh. Auburn did sign 19 players to the 2026 class during the early signing period, and should look to add players by using the transfer portal.
