The Michigan Wolverines have not yet zeroed in on their replacement for former head coach Sherrone Moore.
Initially, Michigan was linked to Alabama's Kalen DeBoer and Arizona State's Kenny Dillingham. Neither coach seems to be a legitimate option for the Wolverines at this time. That being said, Louisville coach Jeff Brohm has emerged as a serious contender for the gig.
"Louisville’s Jeff Brohm has surfaced as a strong candidate now after Michigan moves on from DeBoer, whose Alabama team beat Oklahoma yesterday to essentially remove him from the running," The Wolverine’s Chris Balas wrote. "As reported, Michigan was prepared to do ‘whatever it took’ to land him … but as of now doesn’t appear willing to wait that long."
Radio host Dan Patrick offered some intel regarding Michigan's coaching search this Tuesday afternoon.
Could Michigan hire a program legend?
Patrick mentioned former Michigan quarterback Brian Griese as an option for the job.
"The name is Brian Griese. Former quarterback at Michigan. He was instrumental in developing Brock Purdy with the 49ers," Patrick said. "He did take this year off to be with his family. I don't know anything more about that situation. Brian Griese would be someone you can bring in, he's one of your own and maybe he could help ease the transition [from one coach to another]."
Patrick noted that Griese doesn't have head-coaching experience. We'd have to imagine though that he learned a lot from his stint with 49ers.

Griese had 3,663 passing yards and 27 touchdowns during his career in Ann Arbor. He led the program to a share of the national championship in 1997 while simultaneously winning Rose Bowl MVP.
When the 49ers hired Griese in 2022, he made an immediate impact by urging them to draft Brock Purdy. That turned out to be an incredibly smart move on his part. The last pick in the draft has become the franchise quarterback in San Francisco, throwing for 11,255 yards and 81 touchdowns in his first 47 games.
At the very least, Griese would give Michigan a coach capable of elevating the quarterback room. We're not sure if he's even interested in the job though.
