Several Iowa State football players are entering the transfer portal following head coach Matt Campbell’s departure to Penn State, and the Cyclones saw a key offensive piece depart on Wednesday.

Starting tight end Ben Brahmerannounced his decision to enter the portal on social media, adding to the slew of roster departures.

“…I want to thank coach Campbell and the entire coaching staff for believing in me and investing in my development,” Brahmer wrote on social media. “The relationships I built here will stay with me for a lifetime.

“…My time at Iowa State has truly been life-changing, largely because of the people who make Ames what it is. This community welcomed me with open arms, and I’m thankful to have called it home.

“To Cyclone nation ― thank you for showing up every single Saturday and believing in us. Your support has meant everything.”

The junior made national headlines during the 2025 season after being carted off the field following a concerning-looking injury on Nov. 1 against Arizona State.

Brahmer was taken to the local hospital and soon discharged. He caught a touchdown the following week and finished the season strong.

The Nebraska native enjoyed a breakout 2025 season, totaling career highs in catches (37), receiving yards (446) and touchdowns (6).
