Clemson will be forced to adjust its wide receiver rotation for Saturday’s Pinstripe Bowl against Penn State.
Head coach Dabo Swinney confirmed Friday that wide receiver Cole Turner will miss the postseason matchup due to a lower-body injury, one that is expected to require surgery in the near future.
“He’s going to be out,” Swinney said. “He’s going to probably have to have a surgery, probably here in the next week, for a lower-body injury. So, he’ll be out.”
Turner appeared in all 12 games this season and made two starts, finishing with 16 receptions for 144 yards. While his role was more complementary in 2025, he has been a steady contributor throughout his Clemson career. Over his first three seasons, Turner totaled 27 catches for 418 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a rushing score.

With Turner sidelined, the Tigers will have an opportunity to get extended looks at younger receivers in a live-game setting. Bowl practices and game reps often serve as an early preview of next season’s depth chart, and Saturday’s game could allow several developing players to gain valuable experience against a quality opponent.
The Tigers will face Penn State at noon Saturday at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, with the game televised nationally on ABC.
