Multiple Oregon Ducks staffers have been hired away by newly-hired coordinators in Tosh Lupoi (Cal) and Will Stein (Kentucky), with Steven Haunga now set to join Lupoi with the Golden Bears. He served as an analyst for Oregon and will be the tight ends coach and run game coordinator at Cal under Lupoi in 2026.
Haunga has worked his way up the coaching ladder, beginning his coaching career as an intern strength and conditioning coach at Boise State in 2015. From there, he was a graduate assistant at Tulsa and Auburn before serving as a quality control coach at North Texas from 2020 to 2022.
Huanga was an offensive analyst for the Ducks from 2022 to 2025, overseeing multiple top-10 offenses during his time in Eugene.

As is the nature of the movement in college football, oftentimes the first place that newly-hired head coaches look for assistants is with their former program. After all, they’ve worked with them before, having established a relationship through the grinds of a football season.
Haunga is the latest to depart the Oregon program, joining Lupoi at Cal, and he may not be the last.
