STILLWATER — Though he has one more day to serve as interim head coach of North Texas, it appears Drew Svoboda will soon be joining Eric Morris in multiple key roles on the Oklahoma State football coaching staff.

Svoboda will be hired as the Cowboys’ special teams coordinator, associate head coach and tight ends coach, according to a report from Football Scoop on Friday night.

Svoboda is in his third year at North Texas, where he was hired by Morris coming off two years overseeing special teams for Nick Saban at Alabama.

A fullback and tight end at Stephen F. Austin, Svoboda concluded his playing career in 1999, then spent the next 18 seasons coaching at the high school level in Texas.

In 2018, he jumped to the college ranks, holding jobs at Rice and Memphis before joining Saban at Alabama in 2021.

With Svoboda taking over the tight ends, the final primary position coaching spot is filled on Morris’ staff.
