Michigan State football has reportedly “finalized” the hiring of its next cornerbacks coach.
Spartans insider for 247Sports Justin Thind reported on Saturday that Michigan State has “finalized” the hiring of former Iowa State cornerbacks coach Hank Poteat. There were reports last week that Michigan State would hire Poteat and it now appears that has been finalized.
Poteat was a standout at Pitt before being a third round NFL Draft pick in 2000. He went on to have a very successful 10-year NFL career, where he recorded 210 tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles and four interceptions.
Following his playing days, Poteat has joined the coaching ranks with plenty of experience at the collegiate level. He has obviously had a primary focus on defensive backs, with his last five years being split between Wisconsin and Iowa State.
