Florida vs Kentucky Prediction, Preview, and Betting Lines

It’s been forgotten a bit now, but Florida owned this rivalry for decades.
It was all Gators from 1987 to 2017, but the Wildcats are 4-3 since then. This time around, it’s still interesting, but in a different way.
They’re both 3-5 and alive for a bowl game, but lose here, and that’s essentially it.
Kentucky is coming off a Hugh Freeze-firing win over Auburn, and if it wins, it should be .500 with Tennessee Tech next. However, it closes at Vanderbilt and at Louisville.
Florida gave Georgia all it could handle in a 24-20 loss, and now it’s up to interim head coach Billy Gonzalez to do something amazing.
The Gators have to win three of their last four, but they close with Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Florida State.

Why Florida Will Win
The defense is still really good. The team is still really good. Blow off that 3-5 record – this might be one of the 25 best teams in America. Remember, it beat Texas.
How many other teams out there would have a killer record with games at Texas A&M, LSU, Miami, and the Georgia game, and yes, USF? The Bulls are ripping through everyone, and the Gators held them in check until the final, last-gasp drive.
They’re still playing hard – the team was right there with Georgia, going toe-to-toe and holding their own.
No, the offense isn’t anything consistently sensational, but again, Texas, Georgia, Miami, LSU … Yes, there needs to be more of a pass rush, but the Florida defensive front should eat the Kentucky O line’s lunch, but …
Why Kentucky Will Win
For whatever it’s worth, there’s still the issue that Florida hasn’t won away from Gainesville yet.
Again, the schedule is a bear, but not only is the team 0-4 outside of The Swamp, but in the three true road games, it was outscored by a combined score of 80-34.
There were too many turnovers against LSU, the offense did absolutely nothing against Miami, the D had a long day against Texas A&M, and now it’s up to Kentucky to build off the momentum from the Auburn game and the overtime loss to Texas, and play well enough to let Florida implode.
But for Kentucky to win this …
Florida vs Kentucky Prediction, Betting Lines
The Wildcat run defense has to be terrific.
For all the stuff about the style under Mike Stoops, and how UK is a “find a way” type of team, it can’t and doesn’t win when it’s getting run over. Get to about 3.5 yards per carry, and everything else works out fine.
But it is Kentucky, and it is Florida on the road, so none of this will be easy. But the Gators will average close to four yards per pop to make up for two key turnovers that will make this a fight until the end.
