Another LSU football offensive lineman is entering the transfer portal. Guard Paul Mubenga plans to explore his options, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett. Mubenga appeared in 20 games and started 11 over the last two years.

Mubenga signed with LSU in 2023 as a three-star recruit from Buford, GA. Mubenga was a three-star prospect and ranked as the No. 53 interior offensive lineman in the class. Despite the three-star rating, Mubenga was seen as a high-ceiling prospect. He was raw, but athletic enough to be an SEC offensive lineman.

Mubenga took a redshirt in 2023, but was thrust into action in 2024 when LSU began dealing with injuries on the offensive line. Mubenga flashed enough upside to get a crack at the starting job in 2025. He won LSU's left guard job and started the first five games of the season.

Mubenga was inconsistent as a run blocker and LSU decided to move him to a rotational role, opting to go with Coen Echols instead. With Josh Thompson opting out of the Texas Bowl, Mubenga got the start at right guard.

LSU's offensive line room is growing thin, but we know a house cleaning was coming. LSU will have a completely new offensive staff with Lane Kiffin taking over as head coach. Rebuilding the offensive line will be atop Kiffin's to-do list as the transfer portal opens.

Losing Mubenga hurts from a depth standpoint, but he didn't look like an SEC-quality offensive lineman when given the chance in 2024 and 2025. Mubenga still has talent, though, and a Power Four school will take that chance.
