Wolverines to watch: Michigan to rely on run in Citrus Bowl

The countdown to the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl has begun and it’s time to highlight some Wolverines you should know before kickoff. Michigan has gone through a whirlwind of a December, with a coaching change and meeting their new coach just in the last few days. Despite that, there is undeniable talent on this team that the Longhorns will have to contend with all afternoon.
I’ve highlighted five Wolverines you should know before toe meets leather on Wednesday afternoon:
Michigan RB Jordan Marshall
The Wolverines leader on the ground is one of the best RBs Texas will have seen all season. Marshall possesses some incredible physicality at 216lbs, but has plenty of breakaway speed when the opening presents itself. Marshall will get the ball early and often on Wednesday with Justice Haynes still sidelined, so the Texas LBs will have to bring their hardhat for this guy.

Michigan WR Andrew Marsh
Marsh might be a name that sounds familiar to some Longhorn fans, because Texas was interested in Marsh out of high school. Marsh has lived up to his recruiting grade, leading the Wolverines in receptions and yards this season. Marsh has remarkable hands, really strong contact balance, but he’s special because of his elusiveness. When he gets the ball in his hands, the Longhorns defenders will have to be smart or he could be by them.

Michigan LB Ernest Hausmann
No Jaishawn Barham means Hausmann will be called on much more consistently in this game, particularly in the pass rush. Hausmann is a hard-hitting, aggressive player that Arch Manning will have to identify before every single snap or he will have the chance to take over this game.
Michigan senior LB Ernest Hausmann plays faster than any off-ball prospect I’ve watched all summer. He moves like a 10-year NFL vet with a unique blend of range, instincts, eye discipline, and elite stopping power. Michigan LB Cole Sullivan
Next to Hausmann will be Cole Sullivan, an incredibly strong tackling LB that added 3 INTs, leading Michigan on the year. Sullivan is the player Christian Clark, Jack Endries and the other RBs and TEs will have to make miss consistently in the open field to get explosives in this game. Sullivan has the chance to change this game in a second if #23 is not accounted for pre-snap.

Michigan DB Zeke Berry
The best coverage corner for the Wolverines is also the most experienced player in their secondary. Berry has 10 PBUs on the season, 7 more than anyone else on the Michigan roster, plus an INT. He’s dangerous as can be, and lines up all over the field depending on Michigan’s coverage scheme. Berry is the guy Ryan Wingo and Emmett Mosley are likely to see plenty of on Wednesday.
