Alabama football shows health in first injury update before Indiana Rose Bowl

Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer said it succinctly.

In his news conference Monday, Dec. 22, DeBoer said Alabama is as healthy as it’s been “in a long time.” The Crimson Tide’s first availability report ahead of the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl proves that.

Linebacker Jah-Marien Latham, defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., who is suspended, and defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman are each listed as out for the Rose Bowl against Indiana.

Beaman and Latham are out for the year.

Alabama defensive lineman LT Overton, who missed both Alabama’s SEC Championship Game loss to Georgia and the Crimson Tide’s CFP first-round win against Oklahoma with an undisclosed injury, is not listed on the report

In his press conference Sunday, Dec. 28, defensive coordinator Kane Wommack said Overton was “certainly on track” to return for the first time in postseason play. Overton was seen on the practice field in a normal crimson jersey participating in defensive line warm-ups and reps.

“To have him in this game, his experience, certainly his excitement of wanting to get back out on the field and go compete with his teammates,” Wommack said. “He’s an ultimate competitor.”

Alabama kicks off against Indiana at 3:10 p.m. CT Thursday, Jan. 1.
