5 Intriguing Transfer Portal Options for Alabama to Consider

Lost in the sauce of Alabama’s upcoming appearance in the Rose Bowl against Indiana, is the fact that there are several intriguing options in the transfer portal, when it opens on January 2nd.
There’s no denying that this Alabama roster isn’t perfect, and there will have to be a ton of rebuilding once key players end up moving onto different pastures.
Wide receiver Germie Bernard and running back Jam Miller will be amongst the group that move onto the NFL, and there are different ways the Crimson Tide can begin to rebuild.
Let’s go through recent transfer portal options and see which ones best fit for Alabama.
Wide Receiver, Cam Coleman (Auburn)
There is nothing more satisfying for Alabama fans than poaching one of Auburn’s brightest and most skilled players.
The Tide did it in basketball where they picked up Aden Holloway, and they did it when they flipped defensive back Red Morgan.
So, why not continue the trend? Wide receiver Cam Coleman, a former five-star recruit, announced that he intends to hit the transfer portal, and Alabama has quickly risen as a possible destination.
Ironically, Morgan, who has become one of Alabama’s up and coming defenders, played high school ball with Coleman in Phenix City. Now, he’s already begun recruiting by tagging Coleman on Instagram.

Not just that, in answer to wide receiver coach JaMarcus Shephard moving onto Oregon State, Auburn’s offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, Derrick Nix, agreed to join the Tide as their wide receiver coach.
Coleman has been exceptional in his two seasons as a collegiate, averaging 14 yards per catch for a total of 1,306 receiving yards and 13 total touchdowns. As a replacement for Bernard, you could have worse options here.
Running Back, Tre Wisner (Texas)
Ask any Alabama fan what their issue has been with this team.
Go ahead, I’ll wait.

If the overwhelming answer was the run game, they would be right.
We have seen flashes of brilliance with this run game. The senior Miller has had a hard time getting going with injuries, which is a shame, because it was the first time he could get the bulk of the carries.
Instead, this running game was more of a committee, and we saw a chunk of exceptional plays from Daniel Hill, who will likely have a larger role next season.
But if Alabama decided to look elsewhere, Tre Wisner out of Texas is the type of player that the Tide could really use.
Tre Wisner had 639 all purpose yards in four games against rivals Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

Wisner, like Miller, dealt with injuries throughout the season, and in his sophomore year, ran for over 1,000 yards, while also acting as a major threat through the air.
If there’s one thing Alabama likes to do, it’s to air it out, so Wisner could be an intriguing option.
The problem with Wisner is that he’ll probably command a dollar amount that’s too high for Alabama’s liking.
As we’ve learned on National Signing Day, the Tide prefer to retain their players, and use their NIL funds to award the team, instead of bringing in the shiny new toy.
On paper, Wisner would be a great option. It’s truly up to Alabama to determine how bad it wants him.
Linebacker, Robert Woodyard (Auburn)
Another Auburn target?!
If there’s one position that Alabama needs to get deeper in, it’s linebacker. After this season, the Crimson Tide will have lost Deontae Lawson, Justin Jefferson, and Nikhai Hill-Green, all who served major roles both on and off the field.
Robert Woodyard is an interesting option and can come in as a strong one-year rental for the Crimson Tide, until it’s time for him to depart for the NFL. He already served as a leader for Auburn’s defense last season, and can serve as one just as Hill-Green – who was also a transfer – was to the defense.
He’d be an ideal candidate to lead up and coming linebackers such as Luke Metz, QB Reese, and Cayden Jones.
The former four-star redshirt junior had himself a career-best season with the Tigers, with 67 total tackles (47 solo, which would’ve led Alabama), seven tackles for loss, and a pair of sacks.
Offensive Lineman, Tyree Adams (LSU)
Once LT Kadyn Proctor moves onto the NFL, which is likely after this season, Alabama is going to need to stock up its offensive linemen.
You can never have enough linemen, and next season, the Tide will likely have Jackson Lloyd, William Sanders, Casey Poe, Wilkin Formby and Olaus Alinen returning.
To add, they’ll have Bryson Cooley, Jared Doughty, Chris Booker, Bear Fretwell, and Tyrell Miller coming in. Yet, the likelihood of any of those freshmen coming in as a starter is fairly low, unless someone knocks the staff’s socks off.
BREAKING: LSU OL Tyree Adams plans to enter the @TransferPortal, he tells @On3Sports

LSU’s starting left tackle, Tyree Adams, a former four-star recruit just announced his intentions to enter the portal and could be a potential name that Kalen DeBoer will look at.
In 11 starts this season, Adams neglected to allow a sack and only seven total hurries.
Wide Receiver, Nick Marsh (Michigan State)
This one may be a stretch, but it’s impossible to ignore.
Should Coleman reject the opportunity to play in Tuscaloosa, wide receiver Nick Marsh from Michigan State is the best option of receivers to turn to.
Marsh announced his intention to enter the portal after Spartans head coach Jonathan Smith was relieved of his duties midseason, which was ironic since Marsh rejected several offers to leave East Lansing last offseason.
In both his freshman and sophomore seasons, Marsh led the Spartans in receiving yards, with a total of 1,311 yards along with nine touchdowns on 13.1 yards per catch.
Had Coleman not entered the portal, there is an argument to be had that Marsh may be the best wide receiver in the portal.
Based on who Alabama expects to suit up next season, there probably won’t be roster room or NIL room to bring in both Marsh and Coleman, so the Tide should at least have these two circled on their list.
