The last month was supposed to be about the Michigan Wolverines’ bowl game, but for obvious reasons, it wasn’t. Now, the Wolverines have found their next head coach and we can finally shift some focus to Wednesday’s Citrus Bowl vs. Texas.
Here are a few bold predictions for the game.
Bryce Underwood will throw for 350 yards
The beauty of this game is there is nothing to lose and there won’t be a certain someone on the sidelines holding the offense back. Michigan was at its best when Sherrone Moore was suspended, and that certainly includes on offense. In a game that really doesn’t matter for much, we should see things open up a little bit offensively.
We saw quarterback Bryce Underwood have a lot of success through the air against Northwestern and Maryland, and while this will be a much stiffer test, he will have his biggest game of the year with nothing to lose. I am predicting him to throw for at least 350 yards, which would be the most by far for him this season.
Bryce Underwood will score at least 3 TDs
Let’s stick with Underwood for the second bold prediction. Despite his talent, the offense didn’t always run through him during the regular season. It was something that frustrated fans, and it probably frustrated him as well. If Michigan lets Underwood do his thing, the offense will be successful, and he will have a big day. I think that will happen, and whether its with his legs or with his arm, he will light up the stat sheet against Texas for at least three scores.
Michigan will win the Citrus Bowl, 27-21
This doesn’t feel like a bold prediction, but Texas is favored by about a touchdown in this game. If Moore was coaching this game, I would have Texas winning this easily. But something felt different about this team when he was suspended. There just seemed to be a different type of energy from the players, and that energy should be back for this one. Michigan’s offense will click, and the Wolverines will win their bowl game by a final score of 27-21 to finish the season 10-3 overall.
