Tennessee football announces game captains against Illinois

No. 23 Tennessee (8-4, 4-4 SEC) will conclude its 2025 football season Tuesday in the Liberty Mutual Music City Bowl. The Vols will face Illinois (8-4, 5-4 Big Ten) at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Kickoff between the Vols and Fighting Illini is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EST. ESPN will televise the matchup with Tom Hart (play-by-play), Jordan Rodgers (analyst) and Cole Cubelic (sideline) will be on the call.
Ahead of kickoff, Tennessee announced its game captains against Illinois.
Quarterback Joey Aguilar, defensive lineman Dominic Bailey, tight end Miles Kitselman, defensive back Jalen McMurray and defensive back William Wright will serve as the Vols’ game captains.
“We appreciate the opportunity to send our seniors out with one final game in our home state in the Liberty Mutual Music City Bowl,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said. “The opportunity to prepare and compete against an outstanding Big Ten opponent the caliber of Illinois is one we look forward to.
“Vol nation has been unwavering in its loyalty and support of our players. It’s something we never take for granted. We are excited to go play in front of them one more time in 2025 in Nashville.”
