Third player arrested ahead of Sugar Bowl

Ole Miss Rebels defensive back Dante Core became the third player to be arrested ahead of the Sugar Bowl. Core joins Georgia Bulldogs running back Bo Walker and offensive lineman Dontrell Glover in being arrested before the New Year's Day bowl game. It is unclear if Core, along with Walker or Glove, will be suspended for the game or part thereof.

Core was arrested on a pair of drug charges on Dec. 26, which was under a week before the Sugar Bowl. Core faces a marijuana possession charge and a drug paraphernalia charge. Core, a freshman, has not appeared in any games this season.

Georgia's Bo Walker and Dontrell Glover are also freshmen. They were arrested on Dec. 12 for trying to walk out of Walmart in Athens without paying for paper towels, paper products, and air freshener. The products they had are valued at about $100. Walker and Glover face misdemeanor theft by shoplifting charges.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart, as expected, did not share whether Walker and Glover would be suspended for the Sugar Bowl. However, we expected both players to be available. Georgia did not suspend offensive lineman Jahzare Jackson for his offseason arrest, so we think Walker and Glover will face similar consequences.

"Yeah, both those guys, disappointed in their decision-making," Smart said. "We always say decision-making is a skill, and they made poor decisions. They paid a consequence for that, and they're continuing to pay a consequence for that, and they'll finish up their consequences for that. So I hope both of them make better decisions in the future."

Dontrell Glover has started 11 games for Georgia this season and has appeared in all 13. The former three-star has had an outstanding freshman season on the field. Freshman running back Bo Walker has appeared in six games and has 22 carries for 100 yards and three touchdowns (all three of his touchdowns came against Charlotte).
