PASADENA, Calif. — Tens of thousands of Indiana football fans have headed west for the massive Rose Bowl game with Alabama on Thursday. The College Football Playoff quarterfinal game is, without question, the biggest game in Indiana history.
It's also going to be the first game ever where Indiana is ranked No. 1 in the country. They claimed the top spot in all the polls after beating then No. 1 Ohio State to with the Big Ten title and finish the regular season 13-0.
This is uncharted territory for sure for the Hoosiers, with the turnaround by Curt Cignetti over the past two years one of the greatest college football stories ever told. The 11-2 season a year ago was followed by this perfect season, and it's not over yet.
Indiana had more losses that any school in the history of the sport before Cignetti arrived. So, of course, that means Indiana doesn't have much of a bowl history either. They've only played in 13 all- time, with the first one in 1967 when Indiana made it's only other Rose Bowl appearance after tying for the Big Ten title.
