On Thursday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide will take the field at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California for the first time since the 2023 season.
A game which was an overtime loss to Michigan in the CFP semifinals, this was Alabama‘s lone defeat in two trips to Pasadena for the Crimson Tide under Nick Saban, as well as the final game of the legendary head coach’s career.
On the Crimson Tide’s roster in that game were also numerous players who are still at Alabama also, some of which had a key impact in that loss against Michigan.
Here is a look at which Alabama players set to play Thursday afternoon have experience in the Rose Bowl as a result of their action in that Michigan game, as well as how each performed against the Wolverines.
Jam Miller, Running Back
Miller saw some action during Alabama’s most recent trip to the Rose Bowl, but it was fairly limited due to his spot in 2023 on the depth chart. The now starting running back at Alabama had one rush for 11 yards, as well as a reception for two yards.
Kadyn Proctor, Offensive Tackle
Proctor started in the Rose Bowl against Michigan as a true freshman. The junior is set start at the same position yet again Thursday.
Tim Keenan III, Defensive Tackle
Similar to this season, Keenan was one of Alabama’s top defensive tackles back in 2023, and saw a notable amount of action against Michigan. Keenan finished that game with two tackles, one of which was solo.
Deontae Lawson, Inside Linebacker
Lawson started at inside linebacker in Alabama’s most recent Rose Bowl appearance, and enjoyed a big game out in Pasadena. The inside linebacker finished with six total tackles, one of which was solo, to rank second on the team in the loss, while also recording two pass defenses.
Keon Sabb, Safety
Lastly, Sabb was not a member of Alabama’s roster during the 2023 season, but did play against the Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl while at Michigan. Sabb had one tackle for the Wolverines in that game.
