Florida football's coaching search continues to draw national attention, and USA TODAY Sports has now linked one of the biggest names in college football to the Gators' job.

In a recent article, Paul Myerberg identified Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin as the next potential head coach for the Florida Gators, calling him a "home run" candidate.

Myerberg added that while Kiffin could be tempted to remain in Oxford after establishing a consistent contender, Florida represents the type of high-profile job that fits his personality and resume.

Since arriving at Ole Miss in 2020, Kiffin has built one of the SEC's most dynamic offenses, compiling over 40 wins and turning the Rebels into a fixture in the Top 25.

Myerberg also mentioned Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz as another possible option for Florida if Kiffin decides to stay put.

As the Gators continue their post-Billy Napier transition under interim Billy Gonzales, speculation around Florida's next head coach is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.

Here is everything Myerberg wrote about Kiffin being a potential candidate as Florida's next head coach.

Why USA TODAY Sports predicts Lane Kiffin going to Florida

"The best odds at this moment have Kiffin either staying put or replacing Billy Napier with the Gators. One thing that can’t be overlooked but has been largely ignored during the will-he-or-won’t-he debate: Kiffin has established a consistent contender and might be drawn to finish what he’s started after leading an itinerant coaching career before his arrival in Oxford."He'd clearly be a home run for the Gators, though he wouldn’t be the first in recent history to earn that label — in one form or another, each of Will Muschamp, Jim McElwain, Dan Mullen and Napier were viewed the same way. But none of those coaches had won at Kiffin’s level in the SEC.

"If Kiffin does stay put, look for Florida to pivot to Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz. He shares many of same traits that have made Kiffin the hottest name in this year’s coaching cycle and has the personality to handle the pressures of the position."
