Former Auburn linebacker and assistant coach Travis Williams has been named associate head coach of defense and linebackers at Texas A&M.
Williams, who has been the defensive coordinator at Arkansas since 2023, is joining Texas A&M's staff under head coach Mike Elko. Arkansas is currently transitioning after firing head coach Sam Pittman back in September. Williams is joining a program that finished its season recently in a first-round loss to Miami in the College Football Playoff.
The former second-team All-SEC linebacker served as a graduate assistant under Gene Chizik from 2009-11 before spending a couple of years away from the Plains. He returned as a defensive analyst for Auburn under Gus Malzahn in 2014. Williams coached the linebackers from 2016-18, then was promoted to co-defensive coordinator in 2019.
After Malzahn was fired in 2020, he took over UCF, and alongside him, Williams was his defensive coordinator. Williams served as the defensive coordinator for the Knights for two years before heading to Arkansas.
