'College GameDay' announces Week 11 destination, selecting a trendy Big 12 campus

ESPN’s Saturday morning pregame show, “College GameDay,” is a staple for many college football fans each weekend. After weeks of ignoring the Big 12, the show is finally making up for it by visiting a Big 12 school for the second week in a row. This week, GameDay will head to Lubbock, Texas, for a top-10 Week 11 matchup between the No. 7 BYU Cougars and No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders.

It is the second week in a row that the show has set up shop at a Big 12 location after being in Salt Lake City for Cincinnati-Utah last Saturday. Last week’s show marked GameDay’s return to a Big 12 campus for the first time since 2022. This week will only be the show’s second visit to Lubbock, with the last time being a 2008 battle when Texas Tech stunned No. 1 Texas.

GameDay picked the BYU-Texas Tech game over other top college football matchups, including Texas A&M at Missouri, Oregon at Iowa, LSU at Alabama, and Georgia at Mississippi State. All of those contests, aside from the Oregon-Iowa game, are SEC showdowns, so it is definitely nice to see the show spreading its popularity around.

Including Week 11, GameDay will have attended two Big 12 campuses, one ACC campus, five SEC campuses and three Big Ten campuses. GameDay has attended 11 different campuses this season.

Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee serve as college football experts for GameDay, with a celebrity guest picker also chiming in.

Predicting GameDay’s Week 12 location

There are a few options for GameDay to choose from in Week 12. The top options are Texas vs. Georgia, Oklahoma vs. Alabama, and Iowa vs. USC. Of those three, a possible top 10 clash between Texas and Georgia seems like the no-brainer pick at least before any Week 10 results.
