NEW ORLEANS—All that stands between Georgia football and a reunion of sorts with former Bulldog quarterback Carson Beck is Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl.

If the Bulldogs can beat the Rebels for a second time this season on Thursday Jan. 1, it would be Georgia vs. Miami in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 8 in Glendale, Ariz.

The No. 10 seeded Hurricanes upset No. 2 Ohio State 24-14 in the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas. on Wednesday night Dec. 31.

That story of Beck vs. the Bulldogs will dominate the lead-up to the national semifinal.

Beck spent five seasons with the Bulldogs, the last two as a starter. He sustained an elbow injury in Georgia’s SEC Championship win against Texas in 2024.

Beck underwent surgery, declared for the NFL draft and then transferred instead to Miami.

The Bulldogs have ridden Gunner Stockton, who stepped in for Beck and started in the Sugar Bowl loss to Notre Dame, as the starter this season. Stockton and the Bulldogs are 12-1 entering its quarterfinal game Thursday.

Beck on Wednesday completed 13 passes in a row in the first half and finished 19 of 26 for 138 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 23 yards on seven carries.

Beck helped lead Georgia to the playoff last year, but he won his first two CFP starts with Miami, beating Texas A&M on the road and now Ohio State.
