Two more Missouri football reserves are transferring, which includes an eighth member of the Tigers’ Class of 2025. That means nearly half of MU’s freshman class will leave after one year on campus.
True freshman offensive lineman Keiton Jones and redshirt sophomore cornerback Shamar McNeil are now expected to transfer, according to reports from On3 on Thursday, Jan. 1. Neither player, like a majority of the Missouri players now expected to leave, played significant reps in 2025.
The college football transfer officially opens Friday, Jan. 2. Ahead of the official opening date, 21 Missouri players have now indicated they will transfer.
Mizzou signed an 18-member 2025 freshman class, but close to half of those players won’t spend more than one year on campus.
Jones, a Coffeyville, Kansas, native who was a four-star prospect, joins the following freshmen who will leave this offseason: running backs Brendon Haygood and Marquise Davis; kicker Robert Meyer; offensive lineman Henry Fenuku; defensive end Javion Hilson; safety CJ Bass III; and cornerback Mark Manfred III.
Jones only played eight offensive snaps as a rookie, checking in for reserve reps at right guard against Louisiana and UMass. He preserved a redshirt and will retain four years of eligibility.
McNeil only played 75 snaps in three seasons with the program, never breaking into the rotation in Columbia. He featured in two games this season, coming against Central Arkansas and UMass.
Mizzou is expected to be active searching for offensive linemen and cornerbacks in the transfer portal.
Corner has become a pressing need, as only two scholarship players, Cam Keys and Nicholas DeLoach, can now return for the Tigers in 2026. Mizzou has added two freshman corners in its incoming freshman class.
Missouri is expected to return both of its starting offensive guards in Dominick Giudice and Curtis Peagler next year, but Mizzou may still look for depth with six reserve offensive linemen — Jayven Richardson, Jaylen Early, Johnny Williams IV, Fenuku, Brandon Solis and Jones — now expected to transfer.
