Michigan football hasn't had a ton of transfer portal entries, despite all of the turmoil that's happened in Ann Arbor since December 10 with Sherrone Moore's firing, subsequent crash out, coaching search and new hire. Perhaps it's a sign of players bought into the program rather than just the coaching staff.

Of those who have entered, many hadn't expected to be key players in 2026. Until now.

On Friday, the first day that players could officially enter the portal, it was revealed that reserve linebacker Cole Sullivan, who was expected to be a starting-caliber player in 2026, has entered the portal, but is not ruling out a return to Michigan.

Sullivan was a find by the Jim Harbaugh staff but got his start playing special teams under Sherrone Moore. He thrived this season, getting a ton of hype in the offseason before finally seeing the field early and often behind Ernest Hausmann, Jaishawn Barham, and Jimmy Rolder.

"I'm excited. I don't know personally a lot about him," Sullivan said after the hire. "I only know what I've seen on social media, but it seems to be a great guy, a great coach. And I'm just super excited to meet him and get to talk to him."

Sullivan is the third entry since new head coach Kyle Whittingham was hired, with quarterback Davis Warren and cornerback Elijah Dotson having also entered.
