Looking ahead: Georgia football's 2026 schedule

The Georgia Bulldogs’ 2025 college football season ended in a heartbreaking defeat to the Ole Miss Rebels in the Sugar Bowl. Georgia‘s College Football Playoff quarterfinals loss marked the second consecutive year that Georgia lost in the Sugar Bowl.

Despite the loss, a lot of Georgia football fans are already looking forward to the 2026 season. We have 246 days from the date of this post until Georgia’s 2026 season opener against Tennessee State on Sept. 5, but it is never too early to think about next season.

The transfer portal is officially open and we’ll hear NFL draft decisions from countless Georgia players over the upcoming weeks. Georgia coach Kirby Smart will do his best to build a strong roster for next season. The long offseason ahead will certainly have a ton of changes with Georgia having a to replace a big chunk of its roster.

During 2026’s schedule, the Bulldogs will play key games against Oklahoma, Alabama and Ole Miss, who all made the playoff. Georgia will also play rivals Florida, Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Auburn. The 2026 season marks the first time in decades that Georgia won’t play Tennessee and will be the first time the Dawgs have played a nine-game SEC schedule.
