Many recruitments out of the NCAA transfer portal are finished before they even really start and given the “do not contact” tag on former Louisville Cardinals running back Isaac Brown and a 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction to land with the Texas Longhorns, new assistant Jabbar Juluke could quickly address one of the team’s biggest needs.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, the Longhorns are the team to beat for the 5’9, 190-pounder from the Miami area.
Out of Homestead in the 2024 recruiting class, Brown’s electric speed and low center of gravity made him an intriguing prospect, but his lack of size contributed to a consensus three-star ranking as the No. 526 player nationally and the No. 44 running back, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Brown’s offer list was more impressive if not especially extensive — the 16 reported offers included Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Penn State, and Texas A&M, with Louisville landing an early pledge from Brown and holding onto it despite late interest from Cincinnati and Nebraska.
Brown made an instant impact at Louisville in 2024, rushing for 1,173 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 165 carries while recording 30 receptions for 152 yards and a touchdown. As a sophomore, Brown missed four games due to injury, but rushed for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns on 10 carries in the bowl win over Toledo, finishing his career with the Cardinals with 101 carries for 884 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025.
Texas lost four running backs to the transfer portal, including starter Quintrevion Wisner, and desperately need to add explosiveness to a room that lacked it in 2025. The Longhorns are also expected to pursue Jadan Baugh if the Gator standout departs Gainesville.
