According to a report from 247Sports' Chris Hummer, Alabama Crimson Tide running back Richard Young plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Young, who will be entering his redshirt junior season in 2026, is the fourth Alabama player to enter the portal this cycle, joining Aeryn Hampton, Kameron Howard, and Roq Montgomery.
A member of Alabama's 2023 recruiting class, Young has spent the past three seasons in Tuscaloosa where he has rushed for 234 yards and five touchdowns on 59 attempts, while also hauling in two receptions for 13 yards. Young also had a breakout campaign in 2024, but appeared in only five games for the Crimson Tide this past season where he rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns on 23 attempts, a majority of which came early in the year.
Prior to Alabama, Young was rated as the nation's No. 55 overall prospect in the 2023 cycle, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 4 running back nationally out of Lehigh Senior High School in Florida.
