COLUMBIA — South Carolina football took a brief pause from constructing its current roster and added another piece for the future.

Aamaury Fountain, a four-star cornerback from Warner Robins, Georgia, announced his commitment to the Gamecocks on Jan. 2, the first day of the transfer portal window.

He is the second commit for coach Shane Beamer’s 2027 recruiting class. Four-star safety Jernard Albright announced his commitment on Dec. 25. Albright is also from Georgia.

Fountain plays for Northside and is the No. 35 cornerback and No. 37 recruit from Georgia according to the 247Sports Composite. He had interest from Auburn, Duke, Florida, and Alabama. He’s listed at 6-foot-1, 171 pounds.

He was recruited by Torrian Gray, who Beamer recently elevated to co-defensive coordinator with Clayton White. Gray will still coach the defensive backs.

Beamer already lost two stars in the secondary in Jalon Kilgore and Brandon Cisse as both declared for the NFL draft.

Beamer signed 15 players for the 2026 recruiting cycle. On Jan. 2, Beamer said he expects 11 signees to enroll the week of Jan. 5 with the rest joining this summer.

Jernard Albright is from Springfield, Georgia, and plays for Effingham County and is a four-star in the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is the No. 19 safety and No. 22 player from Georgia, and had interest from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida State and Georgia Tech.
