REPORT: TCU parting ways with assistant AD for football human performance Kaz Kazadi

Changes to the TCU football roster and coaching staff have come left and right since the team’s season ended with a 30-27 victory against USC in the Alamo Bowl on Tuesday. It appears that more significant changes to the staff are on the way, as multiple reports indicate that TCU has parted ways with Kaz Kazadi, the assistant athletic director for football human performance who has been with the Horned Frogs since December 2021. Prior to his time at TCU, Kazadi worked under head coach Sonny Dykes at SMU, overseeing the football team’s strength and conditioning department while serving as the head strength and conditioning coach.

John Brice of Football Scoop was first to report the news of Kazadi, whose previous experience includes stints at Arkansas State, the Dallas Cowboys and nearly a decade at Baylor, where he worked alongside Art and Kendal Briles. His previous experience also includes work at South Florida and with the Kansas City Chiefs. Kazadi has been featured heavily by TCU media over the last year, as he’s helped the university promote its recently constructed, $50 million, donor-funded human performance and restoration facilities. About six months ago, Kazadi was featured in a video called “Acre & Iron: Built in the Dark” posted to TCU football’s YouTube.

Kazadi’s departure marks a significant shift for the Horned Frogs, who have now hired a new offensive coordinator (Gordon Sammis) and quarterbacks coach (Brad Robbins) and are closing in on a new running backs coach (Antonio Wilcox). Sammis is replacing Kendal Briles as the team’s new OC, while Robbins will fill the QB coaching role Briles held and Wilcox will take over from Jimmy Smith, who’s reportedly heading to Georgia Tech. In 2013, Kazadi was named the American Football Coaches Association Strength Coach of the Year and the American Football Monthly FBS Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year. Football Scoop named him its National Strength Coach of the Year in 2012.
