BYU is expected to have LJ Martin available when the No. 8 Cougars face No. 9 Texas Tech on Saturday, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
The Big 12's leading rusher left the Iowa State game with a shoulder injury on Oct. 25, and reportedly was back to practice this week. This is big news for Kalani Sitake's team going forward.
Martin has carried the load with 132 carries for 789 yards and five touchdowns this season. The Cougars run heavy offense also features dual-threat Bear Bachmeier, who is the second-leading rusher with 92 carries for 408 yards and nine touchdowns.
The news of Martin's return comes at the right time with Sione Moa still recovering from a Week 3 injury against East Carolina. With Martin's 98.6 yards per game average, BYU will be back on track in a likely College Football Playoff eliminator with Texas Tech.
The Red Raiders lead the Big 12 in both total offense and defense this season, scoring 43.6 points per game and allowing 13.2 to opponents.
BYU travels to Texas Tech on Saturday (Noon ET, ABC).
