Ravens TE coach George Godsey is finalizing a deal to become the OC at Georgia Tech

The Ravens are set for a winner-take-all matchup on Sunday night, and they'll eventually have to hire a new tight ends coach. ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that Georgia Tech is finalizing a deal to make Ravens tight end coach George Godsey the school's new offensive coordinator.

Godsey has been with the Ravens for the last four years, three of which were spent under the current Baltimore offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Godsey fills the position vacated by Buster Faulkner, who left Tech in December to be the offensive coordinator at Florida under new head coach Jon Sumrall.

The veteran NFL coach is returning to his roots, having played quarterback at Georgia Tech from 1998 to 2001. Godsey holds the school record for career completion percentage at 63.3%. He ranks third all-time at the university with 41 touchdown passes, fourth with 6,137 passing yards, and fifth with 484 completions out of 765 attempts.

Godsey has spent time with the Patriots (2011-2014), Texans (2014-2016), Lions (2017-2018), Dolphins(2019-2021), and Ravens, coaching big names like Rob Gronkowski, Mark Andrews, Matthew Stafford, Arian Foster, DeAndre Hopkins, Andre Johnson, and others.
