Quick slant: Since the Gators’ 31-game winning streak in the series ended in 2018, the Wildcats have beaten Florida in 2021, 2022 and 2023. The Gators are favored against Kentucky, but the underdog has won three of the past four meetings. Florida is 0-4 away from the Swamp this season, losing by an average of 12.5 points.
About UF (3-5, 2-3 SEC):The Gators struggle to sustain drives and finish games. Florida is last in the SEC, and 131st of 136 teams nationally, with a 30.7% conversion rate after going 2 of 11 on third down during last Saturday’s 24-20 loss to Georgia. The Gators average just 2.9 points in the fourth quarter, also last in the SEC and 132nd nationally.
About Kentucky (3-5, 1-5):Times are tough for Stoops in Lexington. Prior to a 10-3 win at Auburn that snapped a 10-game SEC losing streak, the Wildcats were 3-17 in league play, dating to a 33-14 rout of the Gators in 2023 at home. During its previous 20 SEC games, Kentucky was 10-10, with two wins against Florida.
Three things to watch
1. UF tailback Jadan Baugh. The Florida sophomore ran for 72 hard-earned yards against Georgia, giving him 683 in 2025. Baugh is on pace to become the Gators’ first 1,000-yard rusher since Kelvin Taylor managed 1,035 in 14 games during 2015, including the SEC championship game and Citrus Bowl.
2. Pass protection. Georgia didn’t sack Florida’s DJ Lagway, but Kentucky registered seven at Auburn.
3. Offensive output. Kentucky has failed to score more than 14 points during four of its past five SEC games, while Florida averages 12.6 points during the Gators’ five losses. UF averages 338.7 yards, 15th in the SEC, and Kentucky 346.1 (13th) against FBS competition.
