BATON ROUGE – The running back room was already thin for LSU football, but the depth within the position group just got much lighter.
Sophomore tailback Caden Durham announced Saturday via his social media accounts he is entering the transfer portal, closing his chapter in Baton Rouge after two seasons.
Durham has two years of eligibility remaining.
In 2025, the Oklahoma City native rushed for 505 yards on 111 carries with three touchdowns.
Why did Caden Durham enter the transfer portal?
Durham saw a substantial dip in playing time and production as this past season rolled on. Freshman Harlem Berry eventually assumed the starting running back role over Durham.
Lane Kiffin is now LSU’s head coach, and he did not retain Durham’s position coach Frank Wilson, who is now on staff at Ole Miss. Considering those factors, those around the program expected Durham to leave LSU and enter the portal.

Oklahoma courted Durham out of high school, and being from just a few miles from Norman, the Sooners could be in the mix for Durham out of the portal. Oklahoma State has a new coaching staff, and Tulsa recruited Durham the first time around as well.
If Durham wants to stay in the SEC, Auburn and Texas are two programs in need of a running back.
