MANHATTAN — Kansas State football’s busy day working the transfer portal continued with the reported addition of Koy Beasley, the program’s fourth commitment of the day.
CBS Sports reporter Matt Zenitz reported that Beasley, a former Miami (Ohio) safety, committed to the Wildcats on Monday, Jan. 5. He joined Texas A&M wide receiver Izaiah Williams, Missouri offensive lineman Keiton Jones and Illinois defensive back Kaleb Patterson.
He’s the third defensive back to commit to the Wildcats, joining Patterson and Arkansas transfer cornerback Keshawn Davila, who committed to the Wildcats on Jan. 4. Beasley will have three years of eligibility.
Beasley visited Manhattan over the weekend. He’s listed at 5-foot-10 and is coming off a redshirt freshman season in which he made 50 total tackles and an interception. No other reported schools were in on Beasley, who was a four-star prospect out of high school and started his career at Purdue.
The Cincinnati native didn’t see any game action in 2024 with the Boilermakers. He was the No. 147 recruit in the Class of 2024, holding offers from schools like Arkansas, Wisconsin, Georgia, Texas A&M, Kentucky and others.
According to his 247Sports page, Marcus Woodson, Kansas State’s new co-defensive coordinator, was Beasley’s primary recruiter when he coached at Arkansas.
At Miami (Ohio), Beasley lined up in 327 of his 735 snaps as a free safety, with 225 coming from playing a slot corner and 91 in the box. He was graded by Pro Football Focus as the MAC’s fifth-best coverage safety, among those who played more than six games.
In high school, Beasley broke his school’s records in the 100-meter, 4×100, and 4×200, and earned a pair of 4×100 state titles. He clocked in a 4.41-second 40-yard dash at the 2023 Ohio UA Camp, recording a top speed of 21.7 mph.
Kansas State had some holes to fill at safety following the departures of Qua Moss, Daniel Cobbs and Colby McCalister to the transfer portal. The Wildcats also graduated VJ Payne and Gunner Maldonado.
