MANHATTAN — Amid a busy day for Kansas State football working the transfer portal, the school found time to announce that it is retaining an assistant coach from Chris Klieman’s staff.
Collin Klein announced Monday, Jan. 5, that Brian Lepak will remain at Kansas State and coach the team’s tight ends. Lepak coached the Wildcats’ offensive line in 2025 and spent 2022-24 tutoring the team’s tight ends. He started at K-State in 2021 as a senior offensive quality control coach.
“Brian has worked tirelessly for this program since he has been here,” Klein said in a release. “He is detailed, caring, competitive and one of the smartest coaches I have worked with at K-State. I am excited to have him continue to develop our tight ends.”
Klein and Lepak worked together at K-State during Klein’s previous stint with the Wildcats, with the two crossing over from 2021-23, before Klein left for two seasons to become Texas A&M’s offensive coordinator. While working with Lepak, Klein served as K-State’s quarterbacks coach in 2021, before taking over offensive coordinator duties in 2022 and 2023.
Lepak was successful in coaching K-State’s tight ends, tutoring Ben Sinnott to All-Big 12 accolades in 2022 and 2023, while Garrett Oakley and Will Swanson earned recognition in 2024. His tight end group led the nation in 2024 in touchdown receptions.
“I am excited to continue to represent Kansas State University under Coach Klein’s leadership,” Lepak said in a release. “I look forward to implementing Coach Klein’s vision and build on the tradition of this program.”
Lepak will have talented tight ends to work with in 2026, featuring none other than Linkon Cure, the former five-star prospect and the top recruit in the program’s history. Oakley is also set to return to K-State, along with incoming freshmen Lawson McGraw and Arley Morrell.
