Missouri football is on the board in the transfer portal.
And Commitment No. 1 is at a major position of need.
Mizzou landed a commitment from Oregon transfer cornerback Jahlil Florence on Monday, according to a report from Cody Goodwin at PowerMizzou and 247Sports. Florence’s father reposted reports of the commitment to his social media channels.
Florence was a starter for the Ducks in 2023, but a season-ending injury cost him nearly the full 2024 campaign and he struggled to break back into the lineup this past year.
Mizzou desperately needs cornerbacks in the portal this offseason, and Florence gives the Tigers instant starting potential at the position.
All three of the players who made up Mizzou’s corner rotation in 2025 — Toriano Pride Jr., Dreyden Norwood and Stephen Hall — are out of eligibility. They combined for more than 90% of the Tigers’ snap share at the position.
Mizzou is currently only able to retain Cam Keys and Nicholas DeLoach at corner for 2026. The Tigers have added two Class of 2026 cornerback signings in Ahmod Billins and Jaxson Gates.
But, a lot of Mizzou’s other depth at the position has entered the transfer portal, meaning it was imperative for the Tigers to land multiple players who can play immediately.
Florence fits that bill.
He’s a 6-foot-1, 195-pound player who has been in college since 2022, when he committed to the Ducks as a four-star prospect and top-100 national prospect.
Florence saw the field the most as a sophomore, playing 392 snaps for the Ducks against what was then a Pac-12 schedule. He had one pass breakup, one interception, which he returned for a touchdown against Washington, and 24 total tackles.
Per Pro Football Focus, he has been targeted in coverage 57 times in his career and has allowed 33 catches. The analytics site has given him an above-average coverage grade for most of his career, and limited pass-rushing snaps he’s been a useful blitz corner.
Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi will become Cal’s head coach once the Ducks’ College Football Playoff run ends. OU faces Indiana on Friday in the Peach Bowl.
Florence, who is from San Diego, is expected to immediately join Missouri, as he originally announced his intention to transfer back in November. He only appeared in one game for Oregon this season. 247Sports ranks Florence as the No. 352 player available in the transfer portal.
“I’m thrilled with Jahlil’s contribution to our team,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said when Florence originally entered the portal in November, per Ducks Wire. “He was a positive teammate. I’m wishing him nothing but the best. He was looking for a reset, and I wish him a great future.”
With a medical redshirt — which comes from a right meniscus injury late in 2023 that caused him to miss all of 2024 — and possibly a regular redshirt in hand, it seems likely that he has two remaining years of eligibility.
Mizzou is still likely to target at least one more cornerback in this transfer portal window.
