The Georgia Bulldogs could be taking an SEC wide receiver off the transfer portal. Vanderbilt wide receiver Tre Richardson is visiting the Bulldogs on Jan. 6, 2026, according to Max Olson. He has at least one more year of eligibility.

Richardson is a former JUCO and D-II player. He played for Hutchinson Community College in his freshman year in 2023, then transferred to the Washburn Ichabods in 2024. He had 983 yards and 11 touchdowns as a receiver, while also returning 16 kickoffs for 386 yards.

In March 2025, Richardson entered the transfer portal, and he committed to the Vanderbilt Commodores in April 5. Richardson led the team in receiving yards (806) and receiving touchdowns (seven) through 46 receptions. Some have even compared his game to Zachariah Branch.

Safe to say, Richardson would be a huge addition for Georgia via the transfer portal. With Zachariah Branch heading to the 2026 NFL draft, Richardson could easily take over as the screen threat in Mike Bobo’s offense.

He also qualifies for the bonus of playing another year after his senior season. Due to a rule surrounding Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, every player with one year of experience in the JUCO level can apply for another year of eligibility. Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young used this rule to allow himself to play for the Bulldogs in the 2025-26 season, and he fit very well in Georgia’s passing game as the big-bodied jump-ball receiver.

With Pavia going to the draft, Vanderbilt could start five-star signee Jared Curtis, who decommitted from Georgia twice. Georgia could take away one of his most valuable receivers in Richardson. The Bulldogs play the Commodores on Oct. 3, 2026 in Athens.
