Georgia is expected to lose a key analyst to a Conference USA team. Georgia defensive backs analyst David Metcalf was hired as the safeties coach of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

Metcalf worked closely with several members of the Georgia coaching staff, such as assistant defensive coordinator and safeties coach Travaris Robinson, defensive backs coach Donte Williams, and defensive analyst Will Muschamp, who joined the Texas Longhorns as their defensive coordinator.

The Georgia Bulldogs play Metcalf’s team, Western Kentucky, on Sept. 12, 2026. They also play former Georgia assistant Shane Beamer, who is now the head coach of the Gamecocks, along with former Georgia quarterbacks assistant Buster Faulkner, who is now offensive coordinator of the Florida Gators.

In 2027, the Bulldogs face against Muschamp as well. When Muschamp was a head coach for Florida (2011-14) and South Carolina (2016-20), he had a disastrous 2-6 record against Georgia.
