Michigan Football ‘expected to show interest’ in former Ohio State WR

The Michigan Wolverines received great news on Tuesday night when it was reported that wide receiver Andrew Marsh would be returning to Ann Arbor for his sophomore year. He had a fantastic freshman year that resulted in him catching 48 passes for 661 yards and five touchdowns. He earned True Freshman All-American accolades for his play.

But it appears Kyle Whittingham and company may not be done at the wide receiver position this offseason. Also happening on Tuesday night, Ohio State wide receiver Quincy Porter announced he would be entering the transfer portal.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound former five-star high school recruit out of New Jersey was among the best overall players in the 2025 class, and Michigan was one of his finalists prior to him committing to the Buckeyes.

But it appears Michigan may have a shot at landing him this go around. According to 247Sports’ Brian Dohn ($), “Michigan, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Auburn, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Miami, Florida, Oregon, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Washington and Cincinnati are expected to show interest” in Porter.

Additionally, Dohn reported the things Porter will be looking at in his next school are the quarterback situation, the receiver depth, the offensive system and how the school utilizes bigger-framed receivers. Porter only played in four games this season, meaning he will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Michigan is certainly in need of another wide receiver to pair up with Marsh this offseason. With Donaven McCulley out of eligibility and Semaj Morgan entering the portal, the Wolverines are looking at guys like Kendrick Bell, Channing Goodwin and true freshman Travis Johnson to play significant snaps next season. But dipping into the portal and getting a legitimate option like Porter — a former five-star prospect that has all the physical tools — would be an instant upgrade in a room that desperately needs it.

Stay tuned for more developments on this portal recruitment and much more. We are only getting started.
