The Oklahoma Sooners have been very active through the first six days of the NCAA transfer portal, but on Wednesday night, they saw one of their former players find a new home.
Former OU defensive lineman Markus Strong has committed to play for the Clemson Tigers out of the portal. Strong spent three seasons in Norman, after arriving as a member of the 2023 recruiting class. He provided important depth at the defensive tackle position in 2025, and he continued to earn more snaps, even on an elite defense. Strong was OU’s No. 5 DT this past season, but he was in line for a lot more playing time in 2026.
This season, Strong recorded seven total tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. In his career, he’s notched 10 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and three sacks. He goes to Clemson with two years of eligibility remaining, as one of a small number of portal players ever acquired by head coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers.
Strong’s exit leaves OU thin at defensive tackle, even with both Jayden Jackson and David Stone set to return. Oklahoma will need to find some depth behind that duo to replace what Strong would have brought to the table.
