Tuesday’s news that former Iowa football starting safety and permanent defensive captain Koen Entringer was entering the transfer portal was the largest shock for Hawkeye fans during this two-week portal window.

Entringer told reporters in Tampa, Fla., during the Hawkeyes‘ bowl prep that he was planning on returning to Iowa for the 2026 season. Obviously, in the days and weeks since, Entringer’s plans changed.

On Wednesday evening, 247Sports’ Allen Trieu reported that Entringer has lined up a trio of visits to Louisville, Texas Tech and West Virginia. Louisville is set to get the initial transfer portal visit from Entringer, per Trieu.

Entringer, a 6-foot-1, 211-pound defensive back, started all 13 games for the Hawkeyes in 2025 and was one of Iowa’s permanent team captains. The Ypsilanti, Mich., product ranked third on the Hawkeyes with 73 tackles to propel Entringer to All-Big Ten honorable mention status from the league’s coaches.

Entringer also added 3.5 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, one quarterback hurry, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 2025.

In his Iowa career, Entringer has appeared in 43 games, started 14 and recorded 100 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
