Adam Bradford's College Football Playoff semifinal picks

Last week, I picked each game of the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. The results were mixed, as I went 2-2.

Fiesta Bowl storylines

This is a fascinating matchup. On one side is Miami, a program that is back in the national spotlight for the first time in over two decades. On the other side is Ole Miss, who is two wins away from winning a national championship less than two months after seeing its head coach depart for a conference rival.

Fiesta Bowl pick

Ole Miss taking down Georgia without Lane Kiffin was an incredible story. But ultimately, an SEC team like the Rebels is not physical enough to compete with the Hurricanes of the big, bad ACC. Miami wins it.

Peach Bowl storylines

Oregon has seemingly been close to a national championship for 15 years now, but the Ducks have seemingly never been able to break through and win it all. How hilarious would it be if Indiana, which up until earlier this year had the most losses in college football history—did it before them?

Peach Bowl pick

Oregon is really good, but Indiana simply looks like the best team in the country right now. I cannot pick against them.

Championship game matchup

Regardless of what happens in the semifinals, this will be the first time in the College Football Playoff era that the national championship game does not feature at least one of Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia, or Michigan. If my semifinal predictions are correct, we would get Miami and Indiana facing off in the Hurricanes’ home stadium for the title on January 19.
